Aqualux Resolve Review Image

Resolve Carpet Cleaner is an at-home cleaner that comes in many different containers, in many different shapes and sizes. The Resolve Carpet Cleaner products include Resolve Pet Stains & Odor Carpet Cleaner (22 oz.), Resolve Large Area Carpet Cleaner Powder (18 oz.), Resolve Pet Deep Clean Powder Carpet Cleaner (18 oz.), Resolve High Traffic Foam Large Area Carpet Cleaner (22 oz.), Resolve Steam Clean & Fresh Carpet Cleaner (60 fl. Oz.) and Resolve Easy Clean Carpet Cleaning System (1 ct.).

Depending on the size of the product or the type of applicator attached to it, the price for Resolve Carpet Cleaner ranges from $3.94 to $17.97.

Because there are many different containers and applicators associated with Resolve products, the directions for each product may vary. However, the same basic gist is there:

Apply the carpet cleaning solution (either by spraying it, distributing powder or just pouring it on), let it sit for approximately five minutes, and either wipe or vacuum the stain away. For a lot of Resolve customers, it’s that simple!

However, after doing a little research, we’ve noticed that there’s some variation in customer satisfaction. Below are the lists of pros and cons users found with Resolve Carpet Cleaner, along with a brief analysis of the causes of these variations.

The Pros

  • Resolve Carpet Cleaner removes small stains like magic!
  • Resolve can be a great way to tidy up before having guests over.
  • Resolve works to remove stains from food, drinks and pet accidents!
  • It can even remove old stains!
  • Resolve smells great!
  • A little can go a long way!

Resolve Easy Clean has a handle and vacuum-like applicator, so you don’t have to get down on your hands and knees to clean your carpet. The Resolve Easy Clean is just the applicator by itself, so if you want to clean your whole carpet, you will also have to purchase Resolve Steam Clean & Fresh Carpet Cleaner to go along with it.

Any Resolve product can extract food messes (even tricky ones, like Ketchup stains), drink spills and urine or fecal matter from pet accidents. One reviewer reported that Resolve Carpet Cleaner Moist Powder even cleaned an old rusty water stain out of their carpet!

If you’re looking for a carpet cleaning product solely because of pet odor, then you know what a bonus it is that Resolve has a pleasant scent. Not only does it remove stains quickly, but it also masks any ammonia from urine with a built-in perfume. Your home will be smelling fresh in no time!

During our research, we found that one customer was able to clean a 200 square foot area of carpet with just a 22 oz. can of Resolve High Traffic Carpet Cleaner Foam, which means you can get a lot of bang for your buck!

The Cons

  • Resolve may be hard to find.
  • Resolve Carpet Cleaner Moist Powder may do more harm than good.
  • It may take more than one application before you begin to see results.
  • Resolve’s pleasant odor is only temporary.

Despite the overall positive reaction to the effects of this product, not very many stores carry Resolve Carpet Cleaner, so you may have a hard time finding it. One reviewer noted that they were able to find some Resolve products in the laundry detergent aisle at their local Walmart Super Center, rather than in the carpet cleaning aisle.

Most of the time though, you will have to purchase this product online, which means you may have to pay shipping and handling costs—not to mention, have to wait up to two weeks before you can start cleaning your carpet.

A few customers reported that Resolve Carpet Cleaner Moist Powder clumped up when they tried to use it and meshed unattractively into their carpet. What’s more, when they tried to vacuum up the powder, as instructed, the clumps clogged their vacuum cleaner. A few reviewers stated that even though they were using a Dyson to vacuum up the solution that they didn’t see any positive results.

It’s not clear whether they used the product incorrectly (although a few users swore they followed the directions to the T) or if they were using an older product—perhaps one that had either been sitting on the store shelf for a while or one they had kept over the years and tried to use again.

A few customers reported having to use several bottles of Resolve before they saw results. It’s curious to note that some users (as mentioned above) were able to clean a rather large surface area with just a small amount of solution, while others had to use several bottles in order to clean their carpets. It’s possible that the people who needed more solution had stains that reached deep into the padding of their carpet, or else that their carpet needed to be replaced altogether rather than cleaned.

Perfumed powder only briefly masks the scent of pet urine. This is particularly the case with the powdered Resolve solution because it cannot seep down past the carpet barrier into the padding itself. Liquid Resolve solutions may be more effective, but there is still a chance that the pet urine has saturated the concrete below the padding, in which case the padding would have to be removed so that the concrete could be cleaned by a carpet cleaning professional.

The Gray Area

The spray bottle seems to work a lot better than other applicators. Customers didn’t seem to like the handle on the Resolve Easy Clean Carpet Cleaning system. Although it was supposed to make the carpet cleaning process easier, users reported that it was hard to direct the mechanism using the handle.

Lots of people are saying the spot remover works better than other Resolve products. The people who aren’t seeing desirable results in the carpet cleaning products may have stains deep down in their carpet padding, or have carpet that really needs to be replaced.

There seems to be quite a bit of disconnect between happy and dissatisfied Resolve customers. We can speculate about the reasons for the variation in results, but the truth is that we’ll never know exactly what happened unless we reached out to each reviewer, individually, and asked them to explain, step-by-step, exactly how they used the product.

The Bottom Line

Based on the reviews that we’ve read, we advise that you not use the Resolve Moist Powder solution to remove stains from drinks or pet urine, or other stains that could have seeped down into the carpet padding. The powder should work just fine for all other shallow stains.

Resolve Pet Stain & Odor Carpet Cleaner (22 oz) didn’t receive any negative reviews that we were able to find. Many people were happy with both the solution and the spray nozzle applicator. This product works great for treating specific spots and small, contained stains. However, if you want to clean your whole carpet, it’s best that you call a professional steam cleaner, like Aqualux Carpet Cleaning.
