We are all about killing germs and bacteria in our homes. We try our best to keep our families safe from harm. From our relentless efforts from cleaning the kitchen to bathrooms, we are very diligent in cleaning them on a daily basis or every other day, and some people do major cleaning once a week to kill germs and bacteria. So, why wouldn’t you do the same to your car upholstery as well? Most of us overlook the car interiors but should think twice about it. Do you know how many germs and bacteria are found in your car? You would be very surprised. There are just as much bacteria in your car as your home. We do not realize how bad and harmful our cars can be. But think about what our cars go through on a daily basis just like our homes. But we do not clean our cars as much as our vehicles. So imagine how much germs and bacteria are lurking in there…
Contamination in your car:
- Our daily compute from home and work with coffee spills
- Our quick lunches we take in the car spilling ketchup, mustard, other food particles that fall in between our seats and car upholstery.
- Our feet that track in germs and bacteria going to work, restaurants, bathrooms and other public places every day.
- Our children that go to daycare, public schools, activities after school. They rub their hands and feet all over the car seats and touch dashboards and car handles.
- Our dogs that we cart around to the vets, dog parks etc…
- Dog slobber and dander
- Leaving our windows open and it rains and damages our upholstery and floor board. ( mildew that starts to form)
- Studies show females have more bacteria in their cars due to lugging children around all day.
Helpful tips to keeping your car clean and bacteria free: Remember your car is an extension of your home so treat it the same way.
- Do not eat in your car if you can avoid it as much as possible.
- Wipe down your dash, steering wheels, and cup holders once a week or more as needed.
- Vacuum your upholstery and floors once a week or when spills happen right away.
- Empty your car of trash that builds up. Do not let it sit in your car for weeks or months.
- Clean you’re inside windows of hand prints and smudges from little hands and germs.
It is amazing how dirty the inside of your car can get. I would suggest once every 6 months to a year have a professional carpet cleaner with a truck mounted equipment to clean your upholstery and flooring of your car. They will help get rid of all the food and drink contamination out of your car completely. It will also sanitize and deodorize your car as well. Your car is just as important as keeping clean and germ free as your home. Your car should not be overlooked or neglected for a long period of time. It is just as important keeping it clean as your home.
