Let’s face it; some bathrooms just are not big enough to hold all of our stuff. There are some simple bathroom design, and storage ideas that can help organize and “de-clutter” your bathroom.

–          You can purchase some shelving units, or bathroom cabinets to help put your belongings away. If you have enough space, then mirror the cabinets, placing 2 storage units on either side of the toilet, or bathroom sink.

–          You can repurpose a coat rack, as a towel rack in your bathroom. Since coat racks take up only a minimal amount of space, they fit perfectly for any bathroom.

–          Make use of extra wall space by hanging individual shelves, or even baskets to hold your toiletries, and towels.

–          You can create your own tiered storage fixture by fastening 2 ceramic plates to a candlestick holder. You will need a clear- drying ceramic glue to adhere the plates to the candlestick. This is the perfect place to place your makeup, jewelry, and small bathroom items.

–          Install a 2nd medicine cabinet to stash any of your bathroom extras. You need to hang the medicine cabinet into the wall between studs, and it will take up very little space.

–          For small bathrooms, try any over the toilet ideas to help make the most of your space. Towel racks are perfect for hanging over the toilet, and for stacking towels. Make sure to allow enough space between the toilet and shelves, in order for the toilet lid to be removed when needing maintenance.

–          Choose a cabinet with a built in hamper feature. This feature can really help cut down on space.

–          If you have a good amount of room in your bathroom, use freestanding pieces of furniture to store your bathroom necessities.

–          You can use plastic or fabric totes to help store every family member’s belongings. You can even personalize them by labeling each individual tote with a family members name.  It’s best to put these storage units in the linen closet.

–          Make the most of your space by placing additional hooks, shelves, racks, and hanging baskets on the back side of closet doors, or vanity drawers.

As you can see, there are many wonderful tips to help make the most out of a little bathroom. If you get creative, you can transform your old bathroom into your dream bathroom.
